Acrobat Reader 4.05 and problems with .pdf files
If you use Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05 and you're having problems viewing, printing, or downloading .pdf files, you should modify your Reader preferences:
  1. Close your browser
  2. Open Acrobat Reader
  3. Select the "File" menu
  4. Select "Preferences"
  5. Select "General"
  6. In the "Options" portion of this dialog box, ensure that the "x" beside "Web Browser Integration" is not clicked.
Note: After you've followed these instructions, when you're using your browser and click on a hyperlink to a .pdf document, it will open in a separate window.

If you're still having problems after modifying your Reader preferences, you can download the .pdf file onto your own computer:

  • When you're at a hyperlink to the .pdf file but haven't yet opened the file:
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer®: Right-click on the hyperlinked .pdf file name and select "Save Target As." Then save the document in any directory and access the file through your Reader.
    • Netscape™: Right-click on the hyperlink and select "Save Link As." Then save the document in any directory and access the file with your Reader.
  • When you've already opened the .pdf file:
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer®: Select "File" and then "Save As" in your Web browser's toolbar and save in the directory of your choice. Access the file with your Reader.
    • Netscape™: Select "File" and then "Open page" in your Web browser's toolbar. In the menu box, select "Choose file" and save the document in any directory. Access the file with your Reader.
